The Counseling Center at West Caldwell offers individual and group mental health therapy, and an award-winning substance abuse treatment program that combines evidence-based and 12 step principles, with an intense, focused Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) option.
Ryan Guterl, MA, LPC, Clinical Director
Clinical Director Ryan Guterl is a graduate of Caldwell College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s in Mental Health Counseling.
Proficient in cognitive-behavioral based forms of treatment, with years of experience in substance abuse treatment, Ryan is a nationally certified Counselor, and a Licensed Counselor in the State of New Jersey.
Ryan strives to provide an expert level of clinical assessment before treatment begins, in order to ensure an excellent match for each individual to the appropriate level of care at The Counseling Center. As clients make progress, he works closely with the clinical staff on every patient's treatment plan, to ensure each individual remains on track for successful recovery.
Fayth Risso, MA, LAC, NCC, Counselor
Counselor Fayth Risso, MA, LAC, NCC, is a Licensed Associate Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Rhode Island, and earned a Master of Arts degree in mental health counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University, nearby in Madison, New Jersey.
Fayth believes in a person-centered approach to counseling, with each individual working a custom treatment program specifically tailored their own individual needs.
For many, living with addiction or unmanaged mental health issues is the darkest time of their lives. With visible hope and encouragement, Fayth works to help bring them back into the light.
Stephanie Thomas, BS, CSAC, is a 15 year professional in substance use and mental health treatment. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Addictions Sciences Counseling from Drexel University. She gained early experience working for programs of the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation.
Stephanie is an experienced inpatient and outpatient treatment professional, with practical expertise gained from conducting interventions and providing program management services. As a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), Stephanie brings a high level of expertise to her work assisting local treatment providers, families, and individuals, as they search for the proper level of care.
Tom Roskin, Community Outreach
Tom Roskin is Outreach Coordinator for The Counseling Center in New Jersey and New York. Tom works to connect health care providers to individuals and families seeking help with substance abuse disorders, addiction treatment, and behavioral health.
Tom grew up on Long Island, NY. His immediate family included professionals dedicated to providing mental and physical support to individuals seeking to overcome the disease of addiction. As a student, he developed insights into how different professional and clinical roles collaborate in the community of care and recovery. Tom graduated from Syracuse University.
He now enjoys meeting new people involved in the Continuum of Care supporting recovery, building professional relationships that lead to successful recovery for clients of The Counseling Center.

Outpatient treatment is a perfect adjunct to inpatient rehabilitation, and for those who qualify, Intensive Outpatient is an effective, comprehensive program of treatment and follow-up care. The Counseling Center works hard to collaborate with treatment centers and providers to maintain a Continuum of Care in support of successful recovery.

The Counseling Center at West Caldwell is an outpatient addiction treatment and behavioral health center, staffed with certified and experienced clinical professionals. Eligibility is determined with a confidential clinical assessment, which is performed in person at The Counseling Center.
Adults and adolescents seeking treatment for addiction, alcoholism, mental/behavioral health conditions, or any of the commonly co-occurring disorders associated with addiction and substance abuse, may participate in our award-winning Outpatient Therapy, Intensive Outpatient Therapy, Individual, or Group counseling, based on clinical assessment.
